The Leadership and Excellence Awards is an initiative of Databank foundation that seeks to recognise and reward students who exhibit leadership abilities. The awards are centred on excellent performances in areas such as extracurricular activities, entrepreneurship and social activism during undergraduate studies while achieving academic excellence. This program is run in seven universities across Ghana. Award winners receive cash prices and books.
The most recent award winners were required to identify and help find solutions to a social problem in their communities. Their projects ranged from reading and writing camps in Madina-Zongo, leadership and entrepreneurial initiatives in Nigeria, career development programs in Ghanaian Senior High Schools, awareness creation on post-partum depression in Ghana and a door-to-door library project to promote reading, writing, and computer literacy among young people in Winneba. These projects received seed funding from Databank Foundation.
